The Artist

About

After more than a decade in the São Paulo independent scene, most notably anchoring the erratic alt-rock of sukya || porno, multi-instrumentalist and producer Giovani Baroni has engineered a massive creative pivot from his new base in Mexico City. His solo work is a deliberate rebellion against today’s single-driven streaming landscape. Now 30, Baroni builds dense, long-form musical narratives that prioritize unpredictable structures and emotional grit over viral hooks. Operating as an uncompromising auteur, he bridges the gap between the meticulous complexity of progressive rock and the raw vulnerability of Brazilian indie, creating what he calls “music by nerds, for nerds.”

This solo identity took shape after his relocation to CDMX, a move that forced him to abandon old projects and rebuild his artistic process from scratch. Today, Baroni acts as the nucleus of a network of collaborators stretching from Brazil to Berlin, resulting in a trilingual sound that shifts fluidly between Portuguese, English, and Spanish. Heavily influenced by cinematic textures, literature, and oceanic imagery, his music uses aquatic synths, phasers, and heavy delays to mirror themes of internal transformation.

This culminates in his debut conceptual album, bLU, arriving in September 2026: a patient, interconnected 10-track journey designed to be heard from front to back.
