sukya || porno is an alternative rock band from São Paulo that channels the claustrophobia, grey skies, and friction of the São Paulo megalopolis (s || p) into sharp crooked noise. Founded by Giovani Baroni (vocals, guitar), Luca Tornato (bass), Walter Gonçalves (bass), and Mardem Humberto (drums), the band draws together musicians from across Brazil to build a sound that is intentionally unstable.

Their 2017 independent debut EP, Quando a Urbe Vira Mangue, e Nosso Sangue, Lama, served as a raw introduction to their world. The record subverts traditional indie rock by bleeding it into regional Brazilian rhythms and experimental prog, trading predictable hooks for uncomfortable, urban melancholy and sharp lyrical turns.

Following Tornato’s departure, Walter Gonçales took over on bass, shifting the band toward a tighter, more confrontational sound. That evolution defined 2019’s TALASSOFOBIA—a heavier, suffocating record where themes of love unravel into claustrophobia. Pulling from the slack grit of Pavement, the complex angularity of King Crimson, and the unironic drama of romantic brega, sukya || porno avoids easy categorization, delivering music that is messy, sincere, and entirely its own.

Born out of São Paulo’s concrete, rain, crowds and quiet frustration, the record sounds like a dialogue between city life and inner turbulence. The band mixes regional Brazilian influences, progressive rock and experimental ideas without trying to fit neatly into one place.
